What to ask before you sign up for a lawn care plan
Most Tampa Bay lawn companies sell recurring plans: mowing on a schedule, treatments every few weeks, or both. The plan is only as good as its terms, so get them in writing before the first visit.
What to ask
- How often, all year? Many plans visit more often in the growing season and less in the cooler months. Ask for the schedule and whether the monthly price changes.
- What’s included in a visit? Mowing, edging, string trimming, blowing hard surfaces, weeding beds, hedge trimming — which are standard and which are extra?
- What about treatments? Which products, how often, whether re-treatments between visits are free, and who applies them.
- Missed visits and rain-outs. How are they rescheduled or credited, and how will you be told?
- Price changes and cancellation. How much notice before a price increase, how to cancel, and whether there’s a minimum term.
- Insurance and damage. What happens if a crew damages a sprinkler head, a window or a car?

Before you switch companies
If your current company keeps missing visits or raised the price, tell them before you leave — many will fix it. If you do switch, check your agreement’s notice period first.
